Dr. Thomas J. Sherriff

Dr. Thomas J. Sherriff PT, DPT, CSCS, ASCM-EP

Physical Therapist

Dr. Thomas J. Sherriff joined Barbell Therapy and Performance after previously working at Arkitect Fitness as one of our strength and conditioning coaches. He went to physical therapy school with the intention of improving the lives of patients who suffered sports injuries like himself. Following long recoveries from knee medial meniscectomy and femur fracture, he saw the value in the rehabilitation process and was inspired to pursue this as a career. However, through various experiences, this vision has changed to helping restore members of the community back to functional health, so that they may better serve their own communities. Thomas has a special interest in tactical athlete populations, particularly firefighters, police, and military. As a former wrestler, he also enjoys working with combat sports athletes. Dr. Sherriff believes his clinical rotations in geriatrics at Naples Community Hospital in Naples, Florida, acute brain and head and neck oncology at the James Comprehensive Cancer Center at The Ohio State University, and sports-orthopedic experience with the Denver Fire Department, as well as recent part-time work with Athletic Evolution, has served him well in developing a nuanced approach to orthopedic and sports physical therapy. Outside of work, Thomas enjoys hiking and skiing with his father in the White Mountains, as well as lifting weights recreationally.

EDUCATION
Dr. Sherriff completed his Bachelor of Science with a degree in Exercise Physiology from the University of Massachusetts Lowell in 2019 with academic excellence in research. He then matriculated directly into the University of Massachusetts Lowell’s Doctorate in Physical Therapy program
